Democratic Teachers Front condemns Modi govt over farmers’ leaders arrest
DTF demands immediate release of three farmers
Ferozepur May 13, 2024: The Democratic Teachers Front (DTF) has strongly condemned the arrest of three farmers - Rajinder Deep Singh Wala, Harnek Mahima, and Naunihal Singh and demanded immediate release, who were protesting for the rights of the farmers and labourers.
The farmers under the banner of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) non-political have been sitting on tracks of the Shambhu railway station, close to the Haryana border, since April 17 demanding the release of three farmers arrested by the Haryana Police.
Vikram Dev Singh, General Secretary Mukesh Kumar and Finance Secretary Ashwani Awasthi condemning the attitude of the central government, said that during the last 10 years of tenure of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the standard of living of the working people has declined drastically. There has been a huge increase in unemployment and the increasing centralization of power, continuously limiting the rights of the states and the democratic rights of the people, and the right of farmers to struggle for their rightful demands is also being taken away.
The state governments that restored the old pension system are being financially squeezed by the central government and education is being further privatized through the National Education Policy 2020. There is a lot of anger among the people against the central government for imposing the fascist idea of one country, one religion, one language and one culture on groups of minorities of Dalits, women and tribals and implementing pro-corporate policies vigorously, which is reflected in elections.
Giving a warning, the DTF leaders warned to refrain from adopting an unreasonable policy of suppressing public sentiments and demanded the immediate release of the arrested leaders.
