Air Canada temporarily suspends flights to India
Toronto, February 27, 2019 :
A large number of air passengers had to face a difficult time when Canada’s largest carrier Air Canada on Wednesday temporarily suspended service to India, following tension and air clashes between India and Pakistan.
CTV News Canada reported that the airline had temporarily suspended its service to India. It was also reported that a flight from Toronto to Delhi was directed to return to Canada, while a flight from Vancouver to Delhi was cancelled.
Air Canada spokesperson was quoted saying that it would resume service to India “once the situation normalizes and we determine it is safe to do so.”
It may be noted that the all the international flights passing through pakistan , have been dicerted to other air routes.
CBC reported that an Air Canada flight from Toronto to Delhi turned back over Europe today after the Pakistani government decided to close its airspace amid heightened tensions with India.
The flight left Toronto at 9:39 p.m. ET Tuesday and was in the air for more than 12 hours before it landed back in the city Wednesday afternoon. It had already crossed the Atlantic Ocean and was flying over Europe when it turned around.
