SDM, BDPO & Naib Tehsildar removed from Panchayat poll duties, strict action recommended
Chandigarh, December 29, 2018 : Punjab State Election Commission has removed one SDM and two other officers from Panchayat election duties and recommended their transfers and strict action against them on the charges of serious irregularities in the electoral rolls. The officers under scanner are SDM Dasuya Harcharan Singh , Naib-Tehsildar Tanda Manjit Singh and BDPO Tanda Paramjit Singh have been transferred .
ADC ( D) Hoshiarpur conducted the probe on the complaint of Tanda Urmar Congress MLA Sangat Singh Giljian and found these officers guilty of misconduct. DC Hoshiarpur has been asked to take strict action against the concerned Kanugo, Patwari and other lower level officials involved in this case.State Election Commission has taken this action of the report of the state government sent by the Punjab Chief Secretary .
It may be mentioned that Giljian had levelled allegations of corruption against the SDM. He said ,“The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Dasuya, is involved in corruption and fresh evidence of it is the irregularities committed by him to make a large number of false voters in various villages of the Urmar Legislative Assembly. He has also registered the votes of such people who do not even live in India. It is not just that many voters have been registered in more than one ward and new voters were registered in the name of rectifying the existing voters”.
