Health Department forms SOPT, takes random samples for nasopharyngeal tests
11 patients underwent a nasopharyngeal test at Guruharsahai
Ferozepur, April 16, 2020: Expanding its surveillance operation in the wake of coronavirus, the Health Department has formed Surveillance Operational Procedure Team – SOPT - under the tutelage of medical specialist Dr Husan Pal and samples of 11 patients for nasopharyngeal have been taken who reported Community Health Centre with a complaint of fever, flu, cold and cough.
The other team members are Dr.Ramandeep Kaur and Ajay Kumar MLT Grade-1, Hanu Kumar Rural Pharmacy Officer, Banta Singh Ward Attendant.
The samples collected have been sent to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test.
Giving this information, Medical Specialist Dr Hussein Pal said that in view of the COVID-19 (Corona) virus, the Health Department Ferozepur has launched a random checking campaign. In all, the samples of 11 patients at the Flue Corner and packed maintaining the temperature and sent for testing.
He said that the purpose of random sampling is that if a positive case comes out of any area, then the Rapid Response Team will, according to its protocol, immediately perform its activities in that area to prevent the infection from further spreading. He said, in case two positive cases were found among the population of one thousand, the samples of all the people would be taken by sealing the areas and further action will be taken as per the protocol.
