Punjab Police to show solidarity with campaign ‘Main Bhi Harjeet Singh’
Chandigarh, April 26, 2020 : District Police chiefs has started to respond Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupt's call for sodarity campaign call ‘Main Bhi Harjeet Singh’. Mansa SSP Narinder Bhargav has also taken initiative in this direction through a poster. The other districts and the even the common people are also responding.
In a message to all his colleagues of Punjab Police , DGP Dinkar Gupta said that that SI Harjeet Singh has emerged as the symbol of the nation’s fight against COVID-19. He said that the battle is being led on the frontline by policemen and healthcare professionals, who have unfortunately been attacked by people in many places across the country.
He said that after the unfortunate episode of Harjeet Singh’s hand being dismembered, all the frontline warriors need to unite in a demonstration of our solidarity and support for each other ; to convey a clear message-don’t attack policemen, the ‘protectors’ ; and doctors, the ‘saviours.’
DGP said that Harjeet symbolizes two top attributes of a good cop ; being calm (not meeting violence with violence or tit for tat), and courage in the face of fire.
Giving his call for the day, DGP said that starting Monday, April 27, 2020 at 10 am, we will flag off a unique initiative #MainBhiHarjeetSingh across social media. He said that that morning he will personally change his name on his badge to ‘Harjeet Singh’ for the whole day. He urged all his colleagues to do the same.
