Chandigarh, April 29, 2020: Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting.
The Administrator stated that though Punjab Government has extended the curfew by two weeks the Chandigarh, UT will take a decision only after consulting all stakeholders and also the guidelines of Government of India on this subject on May 3.
The Administrator also expressed serious concern about the continuously rising cases of corona infected persons. He directed that intensive screening and testing should be done in affected pockets like Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 30-B and Kachi Colony.
He said that all resources and manpower should be concentrated on this and strict vigil to be maintained. He directed Director General of Police, Sanjay Beniwal to regularly patrol all the areas and take stringent action against those, who are found violating social distancing.
Badnore directed AK Sinha, Finance Secretary to hear all stakeholders regarding the strategy for relaxation after 3rd May 3. He specifically emphasized that the opinion of Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Ex-MPs, other political leaders, counsellors, RWAs, NGOs, Bar Associations, Market Associations and senior citizens should be taken while formulating the recommendations.
