Punjab Police officer uses poetry to voice concern over farmers’ agitation
Chandigarh, December 20, 2020: Amid the ongoing farmers ’ protest where people from various corners of life are expressing and extending their support to the agitation against the farm bills, a police officer in Punjab has used poetry as a means to voice his emotions and concerns.
Gurjot Singh Kaler, Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Mohali is winning hearts on social media for narrating a Hindi poem ‘Kha Gye Woh Desh Mera’. The poem highlights various societal concerns including the ongoing farmers’ protest, has been penned by Kaler’s mother Dr. Parampreet Ghuman.
“The poem talks about the current situation of despair, turmoil, and agitations plaguing the Indian society. It highlights the various issues confronting the Indian society today and encourages the viewer to introspect and reflect upon the present status of affairs by comparing it with the old, glorious history of India,” he shared.
“It has been penned to help the common man decipher the reality of present times and take inspiration from the rich historical legacy of previous times,” he added. The video where Kaler is narrating the poem that he uploaded on his YouTube account on December 11, has now over 65,000 views.
