Amritsar, April 24, 2021: In a tragic incident, six COVID-19 patients died in a private hospital of Amritsar due to a lack of oxygen supply on Saturday.
Hospital owner Sunil Devgan claimed that due to shortage of oxygen cylinder, they were not admitting any COVID-19 patients but after repeated request from the patients’ family members, the hospital did admit few patients by taking an undertaking that the hospital will not be responsible if the patient dies.
“There is a shortage of oxygen in the city for the past few days. A delegation of the Indian Medical Association also went to meet DC yesterday and urged him to resolve the matter,” claimed the hospital owner.
Neither the Punjab government nor any Amritsar government official has yet commented on the incident.
