Every election is a health tonic for me:Badal
\"Every election is a health tonic for me: My good health is bad for Cong health\": CM at his wittiest best in Moga....Congress ideology and manifesto reduced wishful thinking about my health<
br>
Kotha Charrik ( Moga) February 19 – The Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal said here today that the Congress party has neither ideas nor ideology to offer as a reason why people should vote for them now or ever in future. “When a party’s sole policy and program is limited to wishful thinking about the health of its opponent, one can recommend immediate medical attention to save it. The Congress and its leaders are still to regain full consciousness after the “sun stroke” they suffered in the assembly poll and the party needs immediate and major surgical intervention to save it from sinking even deeper into coma . The Congress is in last gasps of a dying man, and Moga would see its last rites as a party in Punjab.”
Badal was referring to the repeated references to his health by Captain Amarinder Singh during the election campaign for the Moga by-poll .
The Chief Minister has been virtually bringing the house down with his irrepressible humour strokes during the campaign. Observers feel that the CM’s mood by itself has become a major highlight of what is otherwise a serious election campaign. Party sources say that Mr Badal seems to be relishing the rough and tumble of electioneering as only he does. And the CM has not let a single opportunity go to point towards the lethargic and imbecile political responses of the Congress party. “After the last assembly poll, the Congressmen just do not know what has hit them . They have fallen into a deep and dark pit of despair .They are totally clueless about how to get out of it. In fact, they are trying to drag the people also down with them. “ (Hum ton doobe hai sanam , tumhe bhi le doobenge) said Mr. Badal addressing a huge gathering here this morning.
Mr. Badal was at his wittiest , regaling an enthusiastic gathering with his trade-mark earthy “Malwa anecdotal humour”. “What a pity that an organisation like the Congress should believe that their political future depends entirely on my health. Sorry, Captain Sahib, if you are praying only for my bad health, I and my doctors have no good news to give you on this.
And the CM’s sharpest repost came when he referred to Captain Singh’s jibes about his health and old age.” Sorry Captain Sahib, I have no good news to give you about my health. I am too hale and hearty for your good. Mera sehat-mand hona tuhaadi sehat layee changa nahin.” ( My good health is bad for your health!”)
Then turning to his personal physician, Mr. Badal quipped , “Kaka, tusi apna kamm bohat ziada changi tra na karia kro, nahi taan Captain sahib ton tunhanu security threat vi khada ho sakda hai. And if possible , spare some time to look after Captain Sahib’s health also. He needs you more than I do.”
Continuing with his humour onslaught, Mr. Badal said, “After the Moga result, Captain Sahib and his Congress party are going to need a lot of anti-depressants. Kaka , eh goliaan vi tiar rakhio te Captain Sahib nu aap pohncha ke ayo. Kite eh na hove ke apna gham galat karna layee Captain Sahib kuchh hor peende rehan te apni sehat hor kharaab kar len.,” ( Keep these anti depressant tablets ready and please deliver these to Captain sahib personally at his residence, lest he tries to drown his blues by taking some other liquid forms of medicine,” said the CM.
Looking and sounding supremely relaxed and happy, Mr. Badal strikes instant rapport with his audience, having some well meaning, light-hearted fun, some times not-sparing even himself. “Hun meri sehat hi mere virodhian da election slogan ban gia hai. Sadly for them, the slogan is outdated and defunct, as I have not only been healthy but keeping getting healthier and healthier and younger and younger . Election especially works on me like a magic tonic.”
Not stopping here, Mr. Badal even thanked the people of Moga for forcing Captain Sahib and his royal jundali to walk on firm soil . “ I read yesterday that Captain Sahib is feeling for me for going door to door to contact the masses. Although I am grateful to him for this show of concern, I would like to remind him that there is a difference between my going door to door and the Congressmen too are doing the same, yet there is a difference in our respective approaches to this approach. Main ghar jaanda haan te Captain Sahib bechaare dar dar bhatkde hann. Main taan ghar jaanda haan te piar vand da haan te lokaan paason piar paonda haan . Captain Sahib nu eh pta hi nahin k aam lokaan de gharaan vich jana kisse leader layee kinne maan vali hundi hai.” ( I go from door to door and Captain Sahib buffets from house to house. Our mindsets and approach to things are totally different from each other. I go to the people’s houses out of love and I feel so great after sitting and eating with them in their homes. Captain Sahib considers this degrading and humiliating for him. That is why he seems to have made an issue of my door to door, individual to individual approach. I am a people’s man and I am most comfortable only with them. I am not a palace pet.”
And the CM went on to offer what he called an unsolicited advice.” Eh five star khaane khan valian nu Bhai Lalo di roti changi nahi lagdi ate eh majboori vich hi khaani pave taan khande hun.” ( Going from house to house to meet the people is an honour for me. This way, I spread and receive a lot of love and warmth . and this keeps me healthy. I enjoy eating simplest food offered to me in love. But captain sahib develops a bad stomach if he doesn’t get five star meals. ”
The Chief Minister said that the response he has been getting from the people is “ruining our opponent’s health. I do not go to the people as a ruler but as a servant, who has been appointed by them for serving them.”
