Punjab Government amends letter of grant of NPA to Doctors
Chandigarh, October 5, 2021:
The Finance Department of the Punjab government amended its letter dated 6.9.2021 regarding grant of Non Practicing Allowance (NPA) to doctors. In the new letter, the government clarified that the allopathic doctors both in Health and Medical Education Departments should be read as "Medical, Dental and Ayurvedic doctors both in Health and Medical Education Departments".
The other conditions for grant of Non-Practicing Allowance shall remain
unchanged.
Also, the finance department added capping of pay to Rs 2,37,500/- in the amended letter issued on 30-09-2021.
The new amended letter reads, “The Governor of Punjab is also pleased to decide that the Non Practice Allowance (NPA) shall be admissible @ 20% of Revised Basic Pay in the revised pay structure subject to the condition that the sum of basic pay and NPA does not exceed Rs. 2,37,500/- (Rupees two lakh thirty seven thousand and five hundred only).”
It is to be noted here that the Cabinet on August 26, 2021, had approved treating of Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) admissible to Doctors at the rate of 20% of revised Basic Pay to be treated as Pay.
