Top Civil and Police Administration of Fazilka and Ganganagar hold coordination meet to ensure peaceful Lok Sabha polling

Fazilka, May 10, 2024: To ensure effective coordination between border districts Fazilka and Ganganagar ahead of the June 1 Lok Sabha Polls, the top brass of Police & Civil Administration of these 2 adjoining districts on Friday held an Inter-State Coordination Meeting to review, identify, and plug loopholes if any ahead of all important polling day. Voting would be held across Punjab in a single phase on June 1.
Leading the meeting from the Fazilka side, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal emphasized the need for seamless transfer of information to prevent the transportation of liquor, cash, and drugs between the two states.
The two sides deliberated upon a strategy to ensure foolproof security arrangements at the border to guard against any untoward incident in the run-up to the Polls and until the election process is complete.
Dr. Duggal also requested her Ganganagar counterpart to issue strict directions to state officials to share all information with the Fazilka Administration swiftly so that the same could be acted upon in a timely fashion.
Fazilka shares a 79 KM long border with Rajasthan, of which 73 KM touches Sri Ganganagar and the remaining 6 KM abuts Hanumangarh district.
Collector Ganganagar Lok Bandhu assured Dr. Duggal of seamless coordination between officials of both border districts. All arrangements for the assistance of the Fazilka Administration are in place to ensure peaceful polling, he said.
Taking part in the meeting, SSP Fazilka Pragya Jain said stringent steps have been ordered to ensure against any incident of smuggling of liquor, arms, or cash which could be used to influence the polling process.
SP Sri Ganganagar Gaurav Yadav assured that all possible assistance would be provided to ensure no smuggling of arms, cash or liquor takes place to influence polling. Strict checking and Naka bandi would be assured at entry points towards Punjab, he said.Additional Deputy Commissioner Development Fazilka Amrinder Singh Maalhi, and SDM Abohar Pankaj Bansal were also present in the meeting.
