Ferozepur, 28 February : Sukhbir Badal during his flying visit to Mallanwala, Mamdot, Guruharsahai and Fazilka, on a yellow colour chopper, to lay foundation stones and annoucement of various development projects, remained mum over the candidate to be fielded for Ferozepur constituency, for the coming Lok Sabha elections. The major development projects were – sewerage facility in border town of Mamdot at a cost of Rs.24 crore, Rs.31 crore at Guruharsahai to benefit 17 lakh people and Rs.25 crore at Fazilka. In addition, an announcement was also made for a world class hospital at Fazilka at a cost of Rs.45 crore. In fact, the laying of foundation stones and announcement of various projects in the state is to attract the voters in view of coming Lok Sabha elections, ahead of the elections over 13 constituencies. In Punjab, this time the Akali-BJP alliance is claiming to win all the 13 seats to make major contribution in forming the NDA government led by Narendera Modi a candidate for the Prime Minister. The Akali candidate in race are Sher Singh Ghubaya sitting MP and Vardev Singh Maan, son of Zora Singh Maan former MP. In case the sitting candidates are ignored like the policy of Congress, then Vardev Singh Maan (Nonny Maan) has chances to get the tickets and his chances of winning would depend on support of Akali and BJP workers. On the other hand, the Congress is also in a fix over selecting its candidate from Ferozepur as there are number of leaders are putting their claim – Jagmeet Singh Brar, senior Congress leader, Parminder Singh Pinki, MLA Ferozepur, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, MLA Guruharsaahi, Raj Baksh Kamboj, Rural President of Congress Committee from Jalalabad Block, Raja Waring, young leader and MLA from Gidderbaha and Anumeet Singh Heera Sodhi and many others. While AAP party, a little bit active is also yet to think over fielding its candidate. The chances of winning of Akali-BJP and Congress candidate would depend upon as to how much the party workers support the fielded candidate.
