Bathinda, April 8: Bathinda Member Parliament Harsimrat Kaur Badal today said the people of Bathinda wanted development and understood that Peoples Party of Punjab (PPP) chief turned Congressman Manpreet Badal could not deliver on this front. \"Empty words will not wash any water\", said Mrs Badal in a statement here adding \"people want results and understand I can deliver as I have done so in the last five years\". The Bathinda MP said instead of telling the people what he would do for them, Manpreet was being brazen about being a turn coat. \"Becoming a turn coat and then becoming brazen about it is an art which Manpreet Badal has perfected over the years\", the SAD candidate from Bathinda – Harsimrat Badal said about her rival who is now contesting the Bathinda parliamentary constituency on the Congress symbol. In a statement here, Mrs Badal while talking about her rival said \"you have now been exposed before the people of Bathinda who you have been fooling since years by creating the facade of an independent party (the PPP) but in effect all along fronting for the Congress\". Claiming that creditability was everything in politics, the Bathinda mp said earlier Manpreet had sworn that he would never have any truck with the Congress. \"I understand you were under a compulsion to re invent yourself after the political outfit created by you - the PPP failed to win a single seat in the last assembly elections. However you have bitten more than you can chew by casting your fate with the Congress which is on the downswing not only nationally but also in Punjab\". The SAD leader advised her brother in law that he should have learnt something from his uncle and chief minister Parkash Singh Badal. \"Badal sahab fought for the rights of Punjabis all his life and it is because of this that the SAD was able to make a mark among the people of Punjab. You however have chosen to behave in an opportunistic manner by first promising to fight for the rights of Punjabis but later selling out to the Congress which is the most hated party in Punjab because it has all along discriminated against Punjabis\". Mrs Badal said as far as she was concerned, she would continue to contest the Bathinda election on the issue of development and agenda driven politics. She said it was unfortunate that Manpreet, who had nothing positive to lend to the Bathinda campaign, was taking refuge in empty statements by claiming he was for ending \'zulm ka raj\' in the constituency. \"The feedback I have received from the people is that Bathinda is facing \"development da raj\" and people do not want to see an end to the ongoing development at any cost. If at all there was a \'Zulm ka raj\' it was propagated by you In Gidderbaha and you faced the music for the repression let loose by you in the constituency with the people completely rejecting your candidate in the last assembly elections\". Mrs Badal said as far as Bathinda was concerned \" I think Manpreet needs to go among the people and ask them whether they are happy with the ongoing development or not. He will get his answer immediately and also realise the fate of his candidature\". The SAD leader also urged Manpreet to correct his myopic vision as far as the \"Modi wave\" was concerned. \"All you have to do is stop at a tea stall during your campaign and ask the people there whether there is a wave in favour of Shri Narindra Modi or not and you will get your answer. You could also ask what the people feel about the Congress \'yuvraj\' Rahul Gandhi so that you can correct your \'well meaning\' impression about him\", she added.
