Candidates to ply with only three vehicles on poll day
Jalandhar, January 29, 2017: To ensure peaceful and fair assembly elections at all 9 assembly segments in Jalandhar district, the Civil and Police administration is fully geared up, under which a comprehensive plan has been prepared to keep away the outsides from assembly segments.
Today in the meeting with Returning officers, SSP Jalandhar Rural S.S.Mann, ADC (G) Gurmeet singh , ADC (D) Girish Dyalan and police officers, District Election Officer Mr. Kamal Kishor Yadav has asked the police officers to ensure the checking of Marriage palaces, hotels etc to identify outsides from assembly constituencies. Besides that it was also instructed by the DEO to bound down trouble makers in all assembly constituencies till January 31st and submits a report in this regard. With an aim to strengthen the confidence building measures among masses, he also asked the officials to increase the patrolling during last 72 hours before polls.
Mr. Yadav has also said that for the first time 111 sector officer have been deputed by the Election Commission of India to keep hawk eye on all activities at 1830 polling booths across the district and magistrate powers have been delegated to these officers for the day of poll.
To facilitate the public on the day of poll, Mr. Yadav has also asked the Returning officers to establish control rooms at each assembly constituency level to register and redress complaints. It may be mentioned here that a control room has already established at district level for the same.
Mr. Yadav has also made it clear that as per the ECI guidelines, the candidates would only be allowed to move with three vehicles and a permit would be required to obtain from concerned returning officer.
