Punjab Government constitutes five-member SIT to probe four criminal cases/FIRs related to sacrilege incidents

Chandigarh, September 10: In accordance
with the recommendations of the Commission of Enquiry, the Punjab Government on Monday constituted a Special Investigation Team ( SIT) comprising five officers under Director Bureau of Investigation Prabodh Kumar to investigate the criminal cases / FIRs related to sacrilege incidents and to ensure further legal action at the earliest.
According to an official spokesperson of the Punjab Government, a letter to this effect has been issued by the Director General of Police. The spokesperson further said that the others officers of SIT would be IG Crime Arunpal Singh, IG Crime Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, SSP Kapurthala Satinder Singh and Commandant PRTC Jahankhelan Bhupinder Singh.
Pertinently, the State Government vide notification no. 7/213/2013-3H4/4132 dated August 24, 2018 entrusted the Investigation of case registered under FIR no. 129 of August 7, 2018 police station city Kotkapura in district Faridkot and FIR no. 130 of October 21, 2015 police station Bajakhana in district Faridkot to the Central Bureau of Investigation, which has later been withdrawn vide notification no. 7/521-2013-2H4/906 of September 6, 2018.
