Srinagar, February 19,2019: "Anyone who has picked up the gun in Kashmir would be killed",warned Army commander of Kashmir, Lt. General KJS Dhillon on Tuesday while mentioning that it was top leadership of Pakistan military that backed Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror outfit in the valley.
Dhillon further informed that terror outfit JeM has been eliminated in less than 100 hours of the terror attack at a convoy in Pulwama where 44 CRPF personnel were killed.
The top brass of the Army, CRPF and J&K Police held a joint press conference in Srinagar a day after the two top Pakistani JeM commanders were shot dead in an encounter in Pulwama. The Commander of the Chinar Corps, Lt.Gen. Dhillon, IGP of CRPF Zulfikar Hassan and IGP (Kashmir) SP Pani replied to questions of media persons.
Dhillon said that the JeM was being backed by Pakistan’s Army and its intelligence agency ISI and the terror outfit operatives were receiving instructions from Pakistan.
The JeM had claimed responsibility for the terror attack at the CRPF convoy.
“We were tracking the JeM leadership. We are happy to inform that we eliminated the Jaish leadership in the valley, which was controlled by Pakistan,” said Dhillon.
While appealing to the mothers in Kashmir “to make their sons who have joined militancy to surrender and return to the mainstream as anyone who has picked up the gun in will be eliminated, unless they surrender”.
Replying to questions about the terror attack on the CRPF convoy, Dhillon said, “the type of car bomb attack that took place in Pulwama was after a long time in Kashmir. We will keep all options open to deal with these kinds of attacks”. Such attacks have been reported in Pakistan and Syria and we are keeping all options open to deal with such challenge.
He said that the troops were chasing the JeM activists and 58 of them were killed in encounters last year. Of the 31 terrorists killed during the current year, 12 were of JeM.
