Nawanshahr, May 03, 2019: The District Electoral Officer-cum- Deputy Commissioner, Vinay Bublani, while exhorting the political parties to comply with the directions of the ECI, asked them to refrain from using disrespectful and undignified language during period of election to ensure abiding by the model code of conduct in letter and spirit.
"No party or candidate should include in any activity, which may aggravate existing differences or create mutual hatred or cause tension between different castes, communities, religious or linguistic and the criticism of other. Political parties should be confined to their policies and programmes. The political parties and candidates should refrain from criticism of all aspects of private life of the leaders and workers" said the Deputy Commissioner adding that such derogatory words or personal criticism could vitiate atmosphere for election and leave a bad impression in the minds of public about political leadership. Besides, the political parties should refrain from making appeals to vote on basis of caste and religion. The feelings of any community should not be hurt and the election campaigning at religious places is prohibited.
