Proactive and down to business bureaucrats have deep inside them, a desire, a dream, and a vision.” They are god gifted with characteristics like talent, desire, intellect, discipline, persistence, most importantly passion to do things. Deputy Commissioner of Hoshiarpur, Anindita Mitra is one of such officers. Her cheering behaviour, sharpness and sense of humour catch your thoughts at the very first meeting. I still remember my first interaction with her, after she took over as DC of Nawanshahr in 2013. Since then, I am following her & tracking her activities.
Anindita always take upon common people agenda
Anindita Mitra IAS of 2007 batch is one of such bureaucrats, who is full of constructive vigour and takes upon common people’s agenda on priority particularly matters related with social segment, thoroughly and painstakingly. It is her prime excellence, which tag her as officer with a difference. She is considered as best officer and senior officers has endorsed her potential while expressing opinion with the representative.
Anindita Mitra IAS has joined as Deputy Commissioner of Hoshiarpur on 1st January, 2015, after serving in SBS nagar as Deputy Commissioner for more than 15 months. The state government after analysing and recognising her remarkable performance shifted her to a comparatively big district, Hoshiarpur.
Anindita organised “SARAS” as ADC Patiala
Earlier, Anindita Mitra had served as Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) of Patiala, where she supervised the famous “SARAS” fair and got prominence in the eyes of the people for excellent supervision. During her tenure at Patiala, She had also introduced a new model to empower unorganised rickshaw pullers by roping in a NGO at Patiala, under which free modern rickshaws were provided to the rickshaw pullers, by involving banks.
Anindita gives priority to social segment
First thing after taking over as DC of Hoshiarpur, she did was a visit to Ram colony camp, which is a heart of social segment schemes. Social sector is a subject, which very is close to her heart. She spent few hours with the people in the camp, listened to them, inspected the buildings and observed the problems faced by them. Within few days, they were gifted with a high powered generator at the cost Rs 15 lacs. A known industrial house donated this generator; driving force behind this donation was the motivation of Anindita Mitra.
What are your achievements as DC of Hoshiarpur?
My biggest achievement is strengthening of ties & bonds between administration and common people, which is very essential to provide good governance.
Anindita further said that in 2015, the district got several other development projects worth crores of rupees, which includes a Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre set up with a cost of Rs 3.83 crore, a community centre at Harta Baddla constructed with a cost of Rs 6 crore, a Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) constructed with a cost of Rs 18.18 crore. Besides this, a new ROB (Rail Over Bridge) has been constructed with an investment of Rs 27 crore on Jathedar Pritam Singh Marg (going from Mukerian to Gurdaspur) at Mukerian, which has benefitted the people in a big way.
What is your mantra for good governance?
Passion is my key for good governance or achieving success. There are times when you feel like you are working for zilch, that you don’t get anything in return for all your effort. In such awkward times, only passion can keep you moving forward. Without passion you don’t have energy says Anindita Mitra.
What her subordinate says about her
“She won’t give up until she beat the target. She is the one who stands on principle and works hard every day to produce and accomplish” says one of her subordinates while sharing his views with APS.
Her friends view her openness as negative element
On being asked about her negative part, one of her friend from Patiala, said “Her only negative thing, we have noticed is her frankness & openness with all type of people. Whereas, her other friends says “Her openness is her biggest asset, people love her because she is frank and understandable”.
Summation
She is the leader and guide of her office. She is willing to listen to anything her subordinates have to say even if she disagrees with them. She knows the art of how to disagree with them in a kind, thoughtful way, which is a characteristic of a proficient administrator.
Babushahi.com, wish her good luck, courage and all the strength needed to continue her successful career.
