Patiala, March 9,2019: The love story of Pakistani girl, Sarjit (27) with Indian Punjabi boy Parwinder Singh (34) finally turned into a marriage on Saturday.
The couple took the marriage vows according to Sikh traditions at Gurudwara Khel Sahib at Patiala.
The wedding took place in the presence of Sarjit's family that came to Patiala from Sialkot of Pakistan. Bridegroom's family who belong to Ambala (village Tapela) was also present at the occasion. SGPC member Jarnail Singh was also present at the wedding ceremony.
The couple has also been issued a marriage certificate by the gurudwara authorities.
Hindu girl Sarjit who is a post graduate reached India with her family on March 7 by Samjhauta Express. Since the bridegroom's family could not get the visa To Pakistan, the bride came along with her family to India at Patiala.
The couple got engaged in 2016 when Sarjit visited India.
However the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan bothered the families but they decided to move forth with the decision to get married.
There was another couple Maqbool Ahmed and Tahira Maqbool who tied the knot in 2003 post the ongoing tensions between both the countries.
