Chandigarh, September 1: Expressing serious concern over the cavalier attitude of the Parkash Singh Badal government in Punjab towards the anganwari children who have not been supplied ration for the last several months, the state Congress chief, Mr Partap Singh Bajwa today dubbed it as extreme example of non-performance and non-governance.

In a statement, he said this state of affairs was shocking as it is the children mostly from the families from the lower strata of the society who were being taken care of in the anganwaris and nothing could be more shocking that the state government had failed to arrange ration for them for the mid-day meal due to bankruptcy.

“Here is the government which keeps on parroting the development theme while its practice at the ground level is to the contrary. This also questioned the often repeated claims by the Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal about there being no financial crisis in the state”, he added.

He asserted winning elections through rigging, money and muscle power along with the misuse of official machinery was altogether different and the irony was that the Badal government claimed such victories as the vote for development. He pointed out in Talwandi Sabo, the complaints by the people about the lack of basic amenities on the very first day of Mr Badal’s sangat darshan programme should be an eye opener. He said these complaints flew in the face of the claims made by the Badals that the massive mandate in Talwandi Sabo was for development.

Taking pot shots at Mr Badal for asking the government officials at Talwandi Sabo as to how much cut they received while carrying out development works, the PPCC chief said either he should take strong action against the culprits or confess that his writ did not run in the state and he was helpless. In case the Chief Minister had the information, he should act against such officials rather than betraying his own ineptitude. It had been known to Mr Badal all along as he was in the saddle for the fifth term but strangely, he had never given the signal of being tough against corruption and the reasons were too obvious. In a manner, Badal is directly perpetuating corruption and encouraging the corrupt officials.

Mr Bajwa said it was the neglect of the children taken care of at the anganwaris during the day which was all the more serious and betrayed total apathy towards such a sensitive issue. He felt that nothing could be more important than the health of the children and any government showing such wilful neglect had no right to be in office.

He called upon Mr Badal to disburse funds to the anganwaris by giving this issue a top priority.....

Addressing the audience at the seminar, Dilip Chenoy, MD & CEO, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) said, “There is an urgent need for the industry &academia to come together and contribute to the skilling ecosystem by designing diversified skill training programs. This will empower the youth and help them become gainfully employed or self-employed. The focus should be on skilling, up-skilling and re-skilling across all sectors, according to the industry standards defined by the Sector Skill Councils. We have taken up this challenge and I am sure with our wide network of 150 partners and 31 Sector Skill Councils, we will be able to set-up a successful skilling ecosystem in the country.”

“Our target is to skill 3.3 million youth in 2014-15. The target committed for the current fiscal is nearly three and half times of what was set and achieved in 2013-14. Nawanshahr: September 1: Deputy Commissioner Nawanshahr Anindita Mitra IAS reviewed the on going developments projects in the district Nawanshahr on Saturday and a held meeting with concerned officals. The DC examined the latest position of the 100 bed civil hospital Nawanshahr which has been lying completed since the last two years, but could not be made functional due to official snags and hurdles in the construction of the only 60 feet approach road to the hospital.

It is worth while to state here that the work on the civil hospital project picked up after Anindita took over as Deputy Commissioner of Nawanshahr last year. She supervised and monitored the project on fortnightly basis, removed the snags and accelerated the construction of approach road which was going on slow pace and the project has missed many deadlines due to this stumbling block.

“Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will inaugurate the 100 bed hospital in Nawanshahr on September 9” disclosed Anindita while talking to babushahi.com. She revealed that Rs 18 crores has been spent to build up this state of art hospital at Nawanshahr. Anindita told that the civil hospital has been constructed on seven acres land on Nawanshahr – Chandigarh road and its approach roads are being constructed with grant of Rs 87 lakh which were got sanctioned from the state government recently.

It is pertinent to mention that foundation stone of this project was laid by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on March 28, 2011. Though the hospital was ready for functioning in 2013, but due to officials snags in the construction of approach road it was lying out of use. Atlast now it will be operational on September 9 owing to the spade work done by the upright Deputy Commissioner Anindita Mitra.

Amritsar, August 31: In an attempt to demarcate the religious boundaries between Sikhs and Hindus, the Dal Khalsa has called upon the Sikhs to shun Brahmanical rituals and oppose the RSS attempts to brand Sikhs as Hindus "in a befitting manner".

The recent statement of RSS chief has heightened the tension between Sikhs and the RSS. The RSS attempt to suggest a different way of looking at the question of Sikh identity has aroused virulent opposition.

To counter the claim that Sikhism is the sword arm of Hinduism, the hardliners led by the Dal Khalsa held a seminar on Sunday at its party head office. The speaker’s warned that utterances and actions of the RSS will radicalize the atmosphere even more.

Commenting on the RSS agenda for the "Hindu rashtra", Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh categorically stated that though the RSS was free to create "Hindu rashtra", but one thing was clear that Punjab would not be its part. In response to RSS’s cultural attack, he said the sectarian lines between Indian and non-Indians must be drawn. We are clear that Sikhs are on the other side.

He criticised the Akali leadership for striking an alliance with Hindutva forces. He said that it was the Sikh leadership that allowed the RSS and the BJP to have a field day in Punjab. He said that the tenth Guru sacrificed his sons for the sake of the panth but today's leaders were sacrificing panthic interests for the future of their sons.

He said that "the Congress harmed Sikhs physically by getting hundreds of them killed, but the BJP was hitting at the roots and foundations of the Sikh religion". He lambasted the RSS for interfering in the internal affairs of Sikhs.

The Dal Khalsa leader said that it was the Hindutva brand of politics practised by a "lunatic Brahaminical minority" which compelled them to take extreme steps.

The speakers were of the view that the success of the BJP in Indian polls had emboldened the RSS to rekindle the Hindutva agenda in other parts of the India.

Prof Jagmohan Singh, a human rights activist delivered speech on the role of youth in shaping the present and future of the community.

The gathering passed a resolution stating that Sikhs are a separate religion. Sikhs have distinct identity. Sikhs are not Hindus. Punjab rightfully belongs to Sikhs”.
In a scathing attack on the Union government, he said the state is in a denial mood to recognize and resolve the Punjab problem.....

To take up issue of Punjabi farmers not being given visa to Georgia with union govt.

Lehri (Bathinda), August 31 Terming the move to form Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Judicial Commission as a wrong step, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal said that the Haryana government was meddling into the Sikh religious affairs since the matter lay sub judice in the apex court.
While interacting with media persons on the second day of thanks giving tour in Talwandi Sabo Assembly Constituency, the Chief Minister said that the issue of separate committee was under judicial consideration in the Supreme Court and making any move to form Haryana Sikh Judicial Commission would not only be legally incorrect but also ethically wrong. He said that the Congress has always followed its age old policy to divide and rule wherein it has divided states and people
and to rule over them.

The Chief Minister said that Haryana’s CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda was taking such wrongful step on the behest of Congress high command to divide Sikh community in different states and taking decisions against them. Holding Congress responsible for hatching a conspiracy, Badal said that while the matter was sub judice in court, it was illegal to form the judicial commission and appoint office bearers of the same.

He added that the Hooda government was supporting that faction demanding separate committee whom Sikhs of Haryana have already rejected giving them a crushing defeat leading to even forfeiture of their security deposits during general elections of Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

The Chief Minister today reiterated that SGPC represents Sikhs whose foundation has been laid on the sacrifices of thousands of Sikh martyrs. He added that in Maharashtra the ruling state Congress government has marginalized representation of SGPC in the Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib Board yielding to nefarious designs of the Congress high command and has given proof of being anti-Sikh.

He added that by taking such decision, the Maharashtra government has tried to disrupt peace of Sikh community and this move cannot be considered morally, politically, religiously or legally justified.
Taking up the issue of Georgia refusing visa to the Punjab farmers, Mr. Badal said that though such international issues were responsibility of the union government, he would urge the center to intervene in the issue so that the interests of Punjabi farmers, who have made agriculture investments in Georgia, were safeguarded.

Slamming state Congress over its allegations of emptying the state coffers, the Chief Minister said that except for making baseless statements Congress was left with nothing else to say. He said that during the SAD-BJP government’s regime the state has witnessed all round development and prosperity through implementation of pro-poor initiatives whereas Congress had formed government claiming to fight
for the poor, but did nothing tangible for this underprivileged section of society. Mr. Badal categorically said that there was no paucity of funds for the development of the state and prosperity of its people and hence Congress should refrain from making such baseless statements just to score brownie points.

The Chief Minister today expressed gratitude to the people of Natheha, Nangla, Lehri, Singho, Behman Kaur Singh, Behman Jassa Singh, Gurusar, Fatehgarh Nauabad and Leleana villages for emerging Mr. Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu victorious from the constituency with a record margin. He listened to the grievances of the people and monitor progress of ongoing development works.

Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Senior SAD leader and Rajya Sabha Member Mr. Balwinder Singh Bhunder, MLA Mr. Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu, PUNSUP Chairman Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Aulakh, Akali leader Mr. Amarjit Singh Khana, former MLA Jagdeep Singh Nakkai, former Principal Secretary to CM Darbara Singh Guru besides Special Principal Secretary to CM Mr. KJS Cheema.....

Chandigarh, August 31 : In a bid to facilitate the aspirants from the state to appear in the Civil Services Exam in a hassle free manner, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal has urged the Union Minister of state, Personnel and Training Dr. Jitendra Singh to set up an examination centre either at Ludhiana or Jalandhar, which were the centrally located.
In a letter to Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Chief Minister apprised him that thousands of students from the state appear for Civil Services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) annually. He pointed out that at present there was no examination center in the state adding that Chandigarh being the nearest centre, all of the students from Punjab have to come here for appearing in the prestigious examination. Many of these students have to travel a distance of 300 km to reach Chandigarh.
Narrating the hardships faced by the students, the Chief Minister further said that as the exam starts in the early morning, students could not take risk of traveling from their hometown to Chandigarh on the day of the exam, henceforth most of them have to travel a day prior to the exam and make arrangements for their boarding and lodging at Chandigarh. He said that apart from other inconveniences, this also resulted in a lot of economic hardships to the poor students, especially from the rural areas of border districts, being located farthest from the capital city. Pleading the case for hapless aspirants of this coveted exam, Mr. Badal mentioned that there were several instances where bright students from disadvantaged background have not even filled the form due to resultant economic hardships. Thus, he sought the Union Minister's immediate intervention resolve this issue of priority by setting up atleast one examination centre in the state for ensuring equal opportunity to all.

Chandigarh, August 31: Mohinder Singh Ji sanyojak Chandigarh branch has informed that Her Holiness Nirankari Rajmata Kulwant Kaur Ji, the holy mother of Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj merged into the eternal abode on Friday, August 29, 2014. The body has been placed in repose at the Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan in Sant Nirankari Colony, Delhi where thousands of devotees are coming from all over India and abroad for her last glimpse (Darshan).

The funeral will take place on Sunday at Nirgam Bodh Ghat at 2.00 pm. The last journey of the body will start from Sant Nirankari Colony at 11.00 am.

A special Prerna Divas congregation in remembrance of the spiritual life of Her Holiness will be held on Monday, September 1, 2014 from 11.00 am onwards at Ground No. 2, Opposite Nirankari Sarovar, Nirankari Chowk, Outer Ring Road, Delhi in the divine presence of His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj and his gracious spouse Pujya Mata Sawinder Ji.

Her Holiness Nirankari Rajmata Kulwant Kaur Ji was born on January 1, 1931 in Kaimalpur (now Pakistan) in the family of Shri Manna Singh Ji and Smt. Somawanti Ji. However, she was brought up in Quetta where her father had his business. She loved to visit Gurudwara and listen to Gurbani. She received Brahm Gyan (God-knowledge) from Baba Avtar Singh Ji when she was just 8 year old. In April 1947 she was married to Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji, son of Shahenshah Baba Avtar Singh Ji.

Ever since her marriage, she served Shahenshah Baba Avtar Singh Ji more as her spiritual master, Satguru rather than her father-in-law. With full spirit of faith and devotion, she obeyed each and every word of Shahenshah Ji, so much so that she became an example for other devotees.

In 1962, when Shahenshah Baba Avtar Singh Ji passed on the Sant Nirankari Mission's spiritual mentorship to Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji, she started sharing the dais with him and participated in Mission's activities all the more whole-heartedly. Devotees of the Mission started addressing her lovingly as Nirankari Rajmata Ji. She dovetailed her responsibilities at home in such a way that they never came in the way of her assisting Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji in promoting the spiritual message of the Mission. Here also she treated Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji as Satguru first and her spouse later.

In April 1980, Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji fell to the bullets of some anti-social orthodox elements and Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj took over the spiritual command of the Mission. Her Holiness Nirankari Rajmata Kulwant Kaur Ji bowed at his feet as a humble devotee even though his mother in worldly relationship. And she showed the same faith and devotion towards Baba Ji till her last breath.

At home Nirankari Rajmata Kulwant Kaur Ji taught her son, (Baba) Hardev Singh Ji and daughters Niranjan, Jagjit, Mohini and Bindiya to assimilate the values of truth, love, tolerance, humility and contentment. She encouraged them to trust God and have faith in Satguru. Like any other devotee, she inspired her children also towards seeking the company of saints (Satsang), remembrance of God (Simran) and selfless service (Sewa).

Rev Nirankari Rajmata Ji was always a guiding star for women. She counselled every woman devotee to live with love and harmony not only with husband but other members of the family also. There are thousands of examples where she saved the family from breaking or shattering.

Her Holiness Nirankari Rajmata Ji's holy discourses were always marked by the message that every human being must attain God-knowledge for which he or she has to bow at the holy feet of a perfect true master.

Sports lover and NGO Ashok Bajaj a social activist said, the government should lay the foundation stone only after proper earmarking of budget by the finance department for the purpose.

Chandigarh, August 31: Ancient India had made valuable contribution to several scientific disciplines including astronomy and geology. This was stated by Dr. Om Narain Bhargava, a distinguished geologist and former director of Geological Survey of India, in his thought-provoking lecture 'Astronomy, Geography and Geology in Scriptures: Facts and Fictions’ delivered under the aegis of ‘monthly lecture series’ of the Society for Promotion of Science & Technology in India (SPSTI). The lecture was held in the Seminar Room of the Physics Department of Panjab University.

Dr. Bhargava said that the mysteries of universe, geological processes and evolution of life have evoked curiosity amongst human beings since time immemorial and almost all civilizations have made contribution to the understanding of astronomy and geology. In India, most of the findings and conclusions in several disciplines have been incorporated in various scriptures, most notably in the Vedic literature, comprising Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas and Surya Sidhanta.

Most of the references are philosophical and even symbolic that require deep understanding of Sanskrit and their philosophical interpretation. For example, Shani (Saturn) is mentioned as son of the Sun. The interpretation could be that the Saturn evolved out of the Sun; but then all planets had similar origin.

Citing several examples, Bhargava said that some of the facts mentioned in the Vedic literature are stunningly accurate, while others are quite off the mark. For example, dimension of the Universe (=Brahamand= Supreme Egg), diameters of various planets, distance of the Moon and the Sun from the Earth and the age of the Earth given in Surya Sidhanta are quite close to modern scientific findings. The universe according to scripture originated from a BINDU, akin to the Big Bang. The speed of light and diameters of several planets calculated are nearly precise, though in case of the Jupiter it is quite off the mark. The time of Pralaya and Mahapralyaya roughly coincide with major orogenies (mountain building activities) and important geological events, but it is difficult to say if these were based on some scientific evidence or just conjectures.....
