Dev Samaj students clean Blind Home to mark founder’s 174th birth anniversary
Ferozepur, December 5, 2024: In a heartfelt initiative, students of Dev Samaj Schools marked the 174th birth anniversary of Dev Samaj founder Bhagwan Dev Atma by visiting the Home for the Blind, interacting with its inmates, and cleaning the campus.
Dev Samaj, established on February 16, 1887, in Lahore by Pandit Shiv Narayan Agnihotri, is a religious and social reform society known as "Dev Dharam" or the "Science-Grounded Religion." Initially associated with the Brahmo Samaj in 1875, Agnihotri later founded Dev Samaj to promote progressive values.
Assistant Secretary, Harish Kumar, introduced the students to the institution’s functioning and encouraged them to extend their support to those in need. He also conveyed his best wishes for their academic pursuits.
For the first time in the institution’s history, students actively participated in cleaning the campus, a gesture deeply appreciated by the management and inmates. Dr. Sunita Rangbulla, Principal of Dev Samaj School, led the initiative. Students and teachers distributed eatable packets, including biscuits and namkeen, along with a cash donation of ₹6,000 to the 25 visually impaired inmates.
The celebrations also featured devotional songs performed by students and inmates, creating an atmosphere of harmony and joy. The students engaged with the inmates, listening to their renditions of ghazals and songs, further fostering a spirit of connection and empathy.
On receiving Blind Home Souvenir, Dr. Rangbulla expressed her gratitude, stating, “It is a pleasure to be part of such an inspiring initiative on the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Dev Atma. We hope to maintain a lasting association with the institution for future support.”
