PAU honoured with Best Centre Award for Excellence in Seed Technology Research

Ludhiana (Punjab), May 20, 2025: Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has been conferred with the Best Centre Award for its outstanding achievements in Seed Technology Research under the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Seed (Crops).
The award was presented by Dr. M. L. Jat, Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), during the inaugural session of the Virtual Annual Group Meet held on May 14–15, 2025.
This national recognition underscores PAU’s pivotal role in advancing seed science through innovative research and impactful technologies.The university has significantly contributed to improving seed production practices across various crops.
Notable accomplishments include the optimization of grading sieve aperture sizes for newly released crop varieties, enhanced field crop establishment through advanced seed treatment techniques, Development of molecular markers for hybrid purity testing, Revalidation of seed certification periods for field crops, and Standardization of diagnostic methods for detecting seed-borne pathogens.
In addition to its research contributions, PAU’s Seed Unit continues to play a vital role in producing and supplying high-quality Breeder, Foundation, and Certified Seeds, meeting the needs of farmers and seed-producing agencies across the state.
Congratulating the team on this remarkable achievement, Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor of PAU; Dr. A.S. Dhatt, Director of Research; and Dr. Rajinder Singh, Coordinator (S&PM), lauded the efforts of Dr. Amandeep Singh Brar, Director (Seeds), and the team working under STR centre of AICRP on Seed (Crops) including Dr Inderpreet Dhaliwal, Dr Gaurav Khosla, Dr Navjyot Kaur and Dr Anju Bala for bringing laurels to the university.
This award reaffirms PAU’s leadership in agricultural innovation and its unwavering commitment to strengthening India’s seed sector.
