Punjab: Govt offices, Schools, Colleges to remain closed on May 28

Chandigarh, May 27, 2026: The Punjab Government has revised the Eid holiday schedule in the state, declaring May 28 as a public holiday for government offices, schools and colleges across Punjab.
Earlier, the Eid holiday had been scheduled for May 27. However, following a decision by the Government of India regarding the observance of Eid, the Punjab Government shifted the holiday to May 28.
A notification regarding the revised holiday was issued by Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha to all district authorities in the state.
With the revised order now in effect, all government educational institutions, offices and several public establishments will remain closed on May 28 on account of Eid celebrations.
The decision is likely to affect regular academic and administrative functioning for the day, while the revised holiday announcement has sparked widespread discussion among students, employees and the general public across the state.
