‘"Who is in Charge?": BJP questions why Kejriwal’s name above CM Mann on Punjab project plaques

Chandigarh, April 3, 2026: A political controversy has erupted in Punjab after Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ashwani Sharma alleged that inauguration plaques of recently launched government projects indicate “external control” over the state’s governance.
Sharma claimed that the plaques of 109 Aam Aadmi Clinics and two irrigation projects inaugurated in Fatehgarh Sahib on March 28 prominently feature Arvind Kejriwal’s name above that of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and other cabinet ministers.
He termed this as evidence that Punjab is being governed by Delhi-based leadership rather than its elected representatives.
Raising constitutional concerns, Sharma questioned the authority under which the name of a leader holding no official position in the Punjab government is being included on publicly funded projects.
He said the move has triggered serious concerns about the autonomy and dignity of the state’s institutions.
The BJP leader also criticised the silence of the Chief Minister, cabinet members and AAP legislators, stating that such practices undermine democratic norms and reflect undue interference in state affairs.
Calling it an issue linked to Punjab’s pride and self-respect, Sharma demanded a clear explanation from the state government and urged immediate steps to uphold constitutional propriety.
