Chandigarh, August 4, 2024: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a 24*7 water supply project for Manimajra, Chandigarh on Sunday.
Addressing the public at Shivalik Garden here, Amit Shah said the residents would now get 24*7 filtered water.He said in view of old pipelines and less water quality, this step has been taken.
He said the project would mainly benefit women who use alarm to store water during limited supply. With this project, the residents would get water whole day.
Nearly 270 km of the city’s water supply network will be implemented in phases, dividing the city into 55 district metering areas (DMAs). The first DMA will receive round-the-clock water supply by 2024, with the entire city expected to be covered by 2028.

"The project costing 75 crore would directly benefit 1 lakh residents. He also said that from now onwards no household need to buy mineral water bottles. PM Modi, after becoming Prime Minister, started smart city projects. Chandigarh was selected in the first list of cities for smart city projects and so far nearly 1000 crore have been spent in this city. 15 crore houses in the nation are getting water supply, " said the union minister.
By the completion of the third tenure of PM Modi, each house would get a water supply, said Amit Shah.
He added nearly 30, 000 crore have been spent on the infrastructure of Chandigarh and railway in ten years by the Modi-led government.
Abrogation of 370 article in Kashmir, construction of Ram Mandir, Digital India, etc are one of the major achievements of Modi government due to which Modi became PM for the third consecutive time, said Amit Shah.
He also said in 2029 also, NDA would form the government.
He said in 2024 BJP won more seats than the Congress won in last three elections. Targetting Congress, Amit Shah said Congress should prepare itself to sit in opposition in 2029 polls too.By 2047, India would achieve new heights on world level, he added.
