Chandigarh, November 2, 2025: Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister Anil Vij on Sunday launched a strong counterattack on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s statement suggesting a ban on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing the Congress of harbouring long-standing hostility towards the organization.
Vij said that the Congress had imposed a ban on the RSS three times in the past and continues to target it because of its nationalist ideology.
“Just as an owl fears light and shuts its eyes when it sees brightness, similarly, the Congress closes its eyes when it sees a patriotic and principled organization like the RSS — one dedicated to nation-building,” Vij remarked.
Speaking to reporters, the minister also responded sharply to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comment that Prime Minister Narendra Modi avoided visiting the U.S. out of fear of meeting former President Donald Trump.
“It is Prime Minister Modi who decides when to travel, where to go, and whom to meet — not Rahul Gandhi,” Vij said. “The number of world leaders PM Modi has met and the honours he has received from various nations are unmatched. No other Indian leader has achieved such global recognition.”
Reacting to Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav’s comment that Nitish Kumar is the BJP’s “election groom” rather than the people’s choice for Chief Minister, Vij quipped, “The BJP has already made it clear that Nitish Kumar will be the Chief Minister. The BJP always fulfils what it promises. I don’t understand why Akhilesh Yadav suddenly remembers grooms during elections — is he one of the band members who follow the groom?”
Vij added that with Bihar in the middle of elections, opposition parties were resorting to such remarks to stay relevant.
