WAR AGAINST DRUGS
Awareness Session held at SBSSU; SSP urges students to become Ambassadors of a Drug-Free Society
Ferozepur, August 20, 2026: A special awareness programme on the theme “War Against Drugs” was organised at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University (SBSSU), Ferozepur, by the Campus Red Ribbon Clubs and NSS Units to sensitise students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promote a drug-free society.
SSP Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh Sidhu interacted with the students during the programme and highlighted the serious physical, mental, social and economic consequences of drug addiction. He said that youth are the greatest strength of the nation and that students, teachers, parents and society must work together to protect young people from the menace of drugs.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Suresh Kumar and Campus Registrar Dr. Rajiv Arora, in their messages, urged students to stay away from drugs and channelise their energy towards studies, sports and constructive activities. They emphasised that drug abuse can destroy the future of young people.
Addressing the gathering at CV Raman Hall, Block-C, SSP Sidhu appealed to students to remain completely away from drugs and also educate their friends and peers about their harmful effects. He stressed that the fight against drugs is not the sole responsibility of the police but a collective responsibility of the entire society.
The interactive session also provided an opportunity for students to raise questions and share their views on drug-related issues, which were answered by the SSP in detail. Students were encouraged to adopt a healthy, drug-free lifestyle and motivate others to join the campaign against drug abuse.
The programme was made successful with the active participation of Campus Red Ribbon Club and NSS officials Yashpal, Jasvir Chand, Rahul Chopra, Gurjeevan Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Jagdeep Singh Mangat and Davinder Monga, along with volunteers.
The university reiterated its commitment to organising such awareness initiatives to keep young people away from drugs and contribute towards building a healthy, safe and drug-free society.
