Chandigarh, May 12, 2026:The legal battle over the arrest and subsequent remand of Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora has reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court, where a key hearing was held today on his petition challenging the legality of his arrest.
Arora had approached the High Court, terming his arrest as unlawful and seeking relief against the remand granted thereafter. The matter was heard in detail, with Senior Advocate Puneet Bali appearing on behalf of the minister and presenting strong legal arguments.
During the hearing, the defence raised serious questions over the procedure followed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in carrying out the arrest and obtaining custody remand. The counsel argued that due process was not properly followed, urging the court to examine the legality of the entire action.
After hearing initial submissions from both sides, the High Court observed the need for further detailed arguments and adjourned the matter.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for May 14, 2026.
