Canada: 16 Punjabis arrested for mail theft and fraud
Brampton, June 29, 2021: Peel Police has arrested and charged 16 Punjabis for mail theft and fraud.
Most of arrested 16 are residents of Brampton.
According to Peel Police, 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau of Peel Police have charged 16 parties with over 140 offences, including mail theft, fraud over $5000, identity theft, uttering a forged document, possession of stolen property, and possession of controlled substances.

Gurdeep Bains (46), Hartinder Randhawa(37), Harmeet Khakh(28), Gurdip Singh(28),Harjinder Singh (31),Gurkamal Mehmi (38),Gurvinder Kang (38),Gurpreet Singh (21),Varinder Kooner(43), Suhail Kumar (21), Rattan Preetam(26)Rupinder Sharma (25), Harman Singh (21), Kuldeep Sandhara (27) and Taranjeet Virk, a 37-year-old man from Woodbridge and Joga Singh a 30-year-old from Toronto.
According to Police, further arrests and charges are anticipated in relation to this investigation. It said that it had conducted to search warrants at residences in Brampton, where officers located hundreds of pieces of mail, stolen/altered cheques, printers, scanners, and other tools used to forge documents.
Police has also seized six stolen vehicles used by suspects involved in mail thefts.
As investigators scrutinized over 100 reports of mail thefts and mischiefs in the Region of Peel between January and April of 2021, they discovered links to numerous parties residing in Brampton. In May 2021, investigators began collaborating with their partners at Canada Post, Halton Regional Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, and numerous financial institutions.
