Canada: Ontario announces plan to crack down on immigration fraud

Ontario (Canada), November 23, 2024: With an aim to protect vulnerable newcomers and ensure integrity in its immigration system, the provincial government of Ontario has announced plans to introduce legislation aimed at cracking down on fraudulent immigration representatives who exploit immigrants.
The legislation will establish rigorous standards for representatives aiding in Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) applications and will impose significant penalties on those who violate these standards, which may include lifetime bans and substantial fines.
