Chandigarh–Amritsar Airports face major delays after technical glitch; Passengers struggle for hours

Amritsar (Punjab), December 5, 2025: Passengers at both Chandigarh and Amritsar airports faced significant inconvenience on Thursday morning after a technical glitch in the check-in system disrupted flight operations. The malfunction led to major delays, with several flights departing hours behind schedule.
IndiGo flights were the worst affected. By 11 am, nearly seven flights scheduled to depart from Chandigarh had been delayed, causing confusion and long queues at the airport.
Multiple Flights Delayed from Chandigarh
The system failure threw the departure schedule into disarray, affecting several major routes:
- Mumbai: The 5:15 am flight departed at 8:05 am.
- Delhi: The 5:20 am flight took off at 8:20 am.
- Hyderabad: The 6:25 am flight left at 9:15 am.
- Bengaluru: The 8:00 am flight departed at 9:55 am.
- Others: Flights to Lucknow, Patna and Jaipur also took off later than scheduled.
Operations Hit at Amritsar Airport
A similar situation unfolded at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar, where several IndiGo flights were grounded due to technical issues. The Mumbai-bound flight (6E278) and two flights on the Delhi route (6E5215 and 6E2506) failed to depart on time.
Pune Flight Delayed by Nearly 5 Hours
The disruption extended well into the night. The Amritsar–Srinagar flight (6E6164) could not take off, forcing passengers to seek alternative arrangements. Meanwhile, the Amritsar–Pune flight (6E6129), scheduled for 11:50 pm, finally departed around 4:56 am—after an overnight delay that left passengers waiting at the airport for hours.
Airline officials said efforts were underway to resolve the technical issue and normalize operations.
