Congress secures clear majority in Kapurtala MC polls (1:07 pm)

Kapurthala (Punjab), May 29, 2026: The Indian National Congress has emerged as the dominant force in the Kapurthala Municipal Corporation elections, securing a clear majority in the civic body polls.
According to the results declared so far for 32 out of 50 wards, the Indian National Congress has won 20 seats, putting the party comfortably ahead in the municipal corporation race.
The ruling Aam Aadmi Party has secured 8 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiromani Akali Dal have won one seat each. Independent candidates have secured 2 seats.
Among the wards won by Congress candidates are wards 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 14, reflecting the party’s strong performance across key areas of the city.
