Ferozepur’s 34 young writers shine at International Children’s Conference in Mastuana Sahib
Honouring Creativity: Ferozepur students earn accolades at International Literary Event
Ferozepur, November 18, 2024: A team of 34 young writers from Ferozepur District proudly represented their schools at the two-day International Children’s Writers’ Conference held at Mastuana Sahib, Sangrur. Guided by Dr Amar Jyoti Mangat, Editor-in-Chief from Ferozepur and supported by District Education Officers Madan Munila Arora (Secondary) and Sunita (Elementary), as well as National Awardee Dr Satinder Singh, the delegation demonstrated exceptional creativity and literary prowess.
The conference, organized under the leadership of Sukhi Bath from Surrey, Canada, aimed to elevate the global status of the Punjabi language. The event featured nine competitions, including poetry recitation, storytelling, essay writing, and singing, with participation from 15 schools in Ferozepur. The young writers captivated audiences with their remarkable performances.
Special recognition was given to visually impaired students Kiranjeet Kaur and Harjot Kaur, adopted by Sukhi Bath four years ago, who served as the chief guests and stage anchors for the event. The conference also welcomed Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, World Ambassador for Cancer Prevention, from England, as a special guest to bless the young writers.
Ferozepur’s Diksha from Government Girls School, Guru Har Sahai, secured third place in the essay competition, winning a trophy and ₹5,100 in cash. Harleen from City Heart School, Mamdot, was awarded a trophy for her exceptional stage management skills. All participants received medals, certificates, and conference bags as tokens of appreciation from Sukhi Bath.
Team in-charge Dr Amar Jyoti Mangat and co-members Baljit Singh Dhaliwal, Hardev Singh Bhullar, and engineer Jagdeep Singh Mangat from Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University were honoured with mementoes and certificates for their efforts.
The success of Ferozepur's young writers was applauded by local principals and educators, including Chamkaur Singh Saraan, Karamjit Singh Dhariwal, and Dr. Sunita Rangbulla, among others. Parents and guide teachers expressed gratitude to Sukhi Bath for providing such a grand platform for nurturing and showcasing the talents of these young writers, further committing to support future endeavours.
