Ferozepur Rail Division promotes "UTS on Mobile" App with 3% bonus incentive for passengers
HARISH MONGA
Ferozepur, August 23, 2024: To encourage digital ticketing, a special drive was conducted today at all major railway stations across the Ferozepur Division. Passengers were informed about the benefits of using the "UTS on Mobile" app and QR code-based payments to purchase tickets. The drive emphasised that buying unreserved journey tickets, platform tickets, and monthly season tickets through the app simplifies the process and eliminates the need to stand in long queues at railway counters and deal with the hassle of exact change.
The campaign was implemented at key stations including Srinagar, Banihal, Jammu Tawi, Pathankot, Amritsar, Jalandhar City, Ludhiana, and Ferozepur Cantt. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Paramdeep Singh Saini, highlighted that using the "UTS on Mobile" app saves both time and money for passengers by allowing them to bypass ticket counters entirely.
Passengers can download the "UTS on Mobile" application from the Play Store or App Store on their Windows, Android, or iOS devices. After registering with their mobile number, users gain access to a zero-balance Railway Wallet (R-Wallet), which can be recharged through the app or via other payment methods such as UPI, debit/credit cards, or net banking. The app allows passengers to book unreserved tickets, platform tickets, and season tickets with ease.
Once logged in, passengers can select their registered mobile number, nearby station, train type, class, number of passengers, route, and destination before proceeding to payment. Tickets are then delivered directly to the passenger's mobile device. The app enables the booking of unreserved tickets within a 5-kilometre radius of the station, and tickets cannot be booked while inside the train. Passengers must be at least 20 meters away from the train to complete the booking.
The app offers both paper and paperless ticket options. For paperless tickets, the digital format is displayed within the app, provided the passenger has a GPS-enabled smartphone with location services active during booking. To print a physical ticket, passengers must select the 'Book and Print (Paper)' option within the app and carry the printed ticket during the journey; otherwise, they will be considered without a ticket.
In addition to the convenience, a 3% bonus is offered on recharges made through the "UTS on Mobile" app, providing an added incentive for passengers to adopt this digital method of ticketing.
