Ferozepur erupts in gunfire again, youth Injured, 4 unidentified booked
Ferozepur, August 3, 2024: Gunfire has become an all-too-common occurrence in Ferozepur, with frequent incidents of gang violence and shootings disrupting the peace. The recent surge in firearm usage by miscreants has further raised concerns about law and order in the region.
In a new incident on Friday (August 2 around 3.25 pm), a young man named Lavish Atwal was critically injured by gunfire in the head on the left ear side, on Friday near the Anathalaya (Orphanage House) in Ferozepur Cantt. Reports indicate that Atwal, who was riding a bike with a friend, was ambushed by four unidentified assailants in a Swift car. As they approached DAV College, the attackers opened fire, causing both individuals to fall off their bikes onto the road. The attackers then fled the scene.
The injured youth has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment. The police have launched an investigation and are actively searching for the culprits. However, the rise in such violent incidents has created a climate of fear among Ferozepur residents. Despite assurances from the police of swift action and arrests, there appears to be little deterrent effect on these criminal elements.
Meanwhile, a case under Sections of BNS and 25, 27, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against four unidentified persons and further investigations are on with Balwinder Singh, IO.
