Ferozepur hits milestone with 1 million tons of paddy procured, ₹2246 Cr paid to Farmers; DC urges stubble management

Ferozepur, November 14, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma announced that paddy procurement, lifting, and payment operations are progressing at a rapid pace in the district. Farmers have received payments totalling ₹2246.45 crore for the purchased paddy.
As of yesterday evening, a total of 1,016,660 metric tons of paddy had arrived in the district’s markets, of which 1,011,001 metric tons were procured. According to the latest figures, procurement agencies have bought paddy as follows: Pungrain (396,498 metric tons), Markfed (246,368 metric tons), PUNSUP (232,810 metric tons), Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (131,737 metric tons), and private traders (3,588 metric tons). So far, 729,884 metric tons of paddy have been lifted from the district.
The DC also urged all farmers not to burn paddy stubble or other residue. She requested that if farmers see others burning stubble, they intervene and support the district administration in preventing this practice. Farmers were encouraged to use available machinery provided by the Agriculture Department to manage stubble responsibly instead of resorting to burning.
