GNDU Organizes ‘Khelo India Samvaad’ on National Sports Day 2026
Amritsar, August 27, 2026: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Guru Nanak Dev University, under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, organized a “Khelo India Samvaad” programme on the occasion of National Sports Day 2026 under the Mera Yuva Bharat initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Focused on the theme “Khel Ki Baat PM Ke Saath,” the programme provided a meaningful platform for young participants to connect with the national vision of sports, fitness and youth-led nation building. Following the virtual address by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, an interactive discussion and dialogue were organized at the university level.
Dr. Kanwar Mandeep Singh, Director Sports, Guru Nanak Dev University, was the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the importance of sports in developing discipline, leadership, team spirit and determination among youth. He encouraged students to actively participate in sports activities and contribute towards building a fit, healthy and strong India.
On the occasion, international sportsperson and university fencing coach Mrs. Jagmeet Kaur and national boxer Mr. Navroop Singh were felicitated for their achievements and contributions to the field of sports.
The programme also provided NSS volunteers and students an opportunity to discuss the development of India’s sports ecosystem, talent development, youth participation and the role of young people in advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. India’s aspiration to emerge as a leading sporting nation and its ambition to host the Olympic Games in 2036 were also highlighted.
Dr. Balbir Singh, NSS Coordinator, provided guidance for the successful organization of the programme and welcomed the guests. Dr. Baljit Kaur Riar proposed the vote of thanks, while Dr. Harkirandeep Kaur efficiently conducted the proceedings. Dr. Vikram Singh Sandhu, Director Hospitality, Aditya Parihar, Dr. Gaurav Dureja and a large number of NSS volunteers were also present on the occasion.
