Immediately stop release of film “Emergency” which shows Sikhs in poor light: DSGMC
Kangana Ranaut has become habitual offender to create controversies : Harmeet Singh Kalka
New Delhi, August 22, 2024: Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Chief Harmeet Singh Kalka has urged Censor Board of India to immediately stop release of film “Emergency” which shows Sikh community in poor light.
In a statement released here today, Kalka strongly objected to the deliberate attempt by Kangna Ranaut, Director & Co-Producer of the film to misrepresent Sikhs as the separatists in her upcoming movie "Emergency".
He said that in the teaser released recently, it is observed that an anti-Sikh narrative about the martyrs of June 1984 is being created and this film is trying to character assassinate Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale great General of 20th Century.
He said that we appeal to the Censor Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) to cut all those scenes which can hurt the Sikh sentiments and stop release of this film as the film could cause a lot of anger and resentment in the Sikh community.
He also reminded CBFC that recently many cuts were imposed on film about life of human right activist Jaswant Singh Khalra which was based solely on truth but still the film was not allowed to be released.
He said that similarly release of “emergency” should be blocked immediately.
