India Post extends services for Raksha Bandhan; Select Post Offices to stay open on Sundays, Holidays

Patiala (Punjab), July 15, 2026: To facilitate the timely delivery of rakhis and festive parcels ahead of Raksha Bandhan, India Post has announced special arrangements under which select post offices in the Patiala Division will remain open on all Sundays and government holidays from July 15 to August 28, 2026.
Sharing the information, Superintendent of Post Offices, Patiala Division, Monica, said the initiative aims to ensure that sisters can send rakhis, gifts and other festive mail to their brothers safely and on time.
The post offices that will remain operational during the special period include Sirhind, Samana, Nabha, Mandi Gobindgarh, Patran, Patiala Head Post Office and Rajpura Head Post Office.
Besides booking of rakhis, parcels and other postal articles, these post offices will also provide Aadhaar enrolment and Aadhaar update services during the extended working days.
The Superintendent further informed that Patiala Head Post Office and Rajpura Head Post Office are offering Aadhaar enrolment and update services daily from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm, enabling residents to avail the facility with greater convenience.
She added that booking of rakhis and other postal items is also being carried out at all branch post offices across the Patiala Division, ensuring that people in rural areas can access postal services from their nearest post office.
To make festive deliveries more convenient, India Post has also introduced parcel packing facilities, along with waterproof, self-adhesive, colourful Rakhi envelopes and special Rakhi boxes designed to ensure the safe transportation of rakhis and gifts.
Monica appealed to the public to make maximum use of Speed Post, Registered Post, Parcel and other postal services for sending festive consignments.
She reiterated that India Post remains committed to providing timely, secure, reliable and affordable postal services, particularly during the Raksha Bandhan season.
