Chandigarh, December 12, 2016: Delhi chief minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal was tight-lipped and non- committal on SYL canal while talking to scribes on the side lines of joint rally of AAP and Lok Insaf party (LIP) of Bains brothers. Ducking the journalist’s queries, Kejriwal had curtly told them to talk to Bains brothers of LIP.
Since this video has gone viral on social media and cat is out of bag, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, SAD spokesman and advisor to Punjab deputy CM Sukhbir Badal, said that Kejriwal owes an explanation for his non-committal approach on the river waters which is lifeline for the state.
Sirsa said that Kejriwal has made conscious decision not to commit on the SYL canal because he has categorically stated in an affidavit in the Apex Court that his Delhi government like that share of Haryana and Delhi should continue to flow from Punjab. In fact, Haryana and Delhi CM are on the same page as far as SYL are concerned and AAP can’t deviate from its commitment to Delhi.
“Since his heart is in Delhi and his home state Haryana, Kejriwal can’t support even the genuine, legal and just right of Punjab especially its river waters which have been deprived for decades’, said Sirsa.
Sirsa said that Kejriwal’s statement that water won’t flow from Punjab that hit headlines today seems accidental. Perhaps, his advisors have told him not to open his mouth on this issue. ‘’Perhaps, Kejriwal has lost his sense of proportion in face of serious revolt in the rank and file of the party” , Sirsa added.
Strangely, Kejriwal preferred Bains brothers to talk on the issue who represented not AAP but another party christened LIP. And the journalists had asked him to state AAP’s position on SYL and they were not keen to know the take of LIP of Bains brothers.
