Mohali: Excise Dept, Police seize illegal liquor; FIR against Dhaba owner
48 bottles marked “For Sale in Chandigarh Only” recovered during raid at New Chandigarh dhaba

Mohali (Punjab), May 1, 2026: The Excise Department, in coordination with local police, has seized a consignment of illegal liquor during a raid at a dhaba in New Chandigarh, leading to the registration of an FIR against the owner.
The operation was carried out by Excise Inspector Satinder Malhi along with excise staff and police personnel at a dhaba located on Stadium Road, Toga.
During the raid, officials recovered 48 bottles of “Empire No. 1 Mota Santra” liquor, which was labelled “For sale in Chandigarh only.”
Authorities said the bottles did not carry mandatory holograms or track-and-trace QR codes, indicating illegal possession and distribution. The accused has been identified as Usha Kant, a resident of Burail, Chandigarh, and owner of the dhaba.
An FIR (No. 76 dated May 1, 2026) has been registered at Police Station Mullanpur under relevant provisions of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914.
Officials said the raid was part of an ongoing enforcement drive being conducted under the supervision of senior excise authorities in the region.
