Nawanshahr residents get New Year gift; Newly set up CT scan facility in Local Civil Hospital Made Functional
Test facilities will be available to needy patients at a slashed rate of up to 70 percent

Keeping the Punjab Government’s commitment of ensuring easily accessible and affordable treatment facilities at government hospitals, District Hospital Nawanshahr has been equipped with latest CT scan facility by the Health Department under Public Private Partnership.
Civil surgeon Dr. Davinder Dhanda while dedicating the CT scan facility to the residents, termed the CT scan machine a major relief for the district. He said that the nominal cost of the scan facility will provide further relief to the people from expensive treatment. The introduction of this facility will benefit the patients victims of road accidents. The CT scan would help proper diagnostic tests of patients belonging to medicine, surgery, ortho departments.
The civil surgeon further said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government’s New Year gift would prove a boon for the common man as it would give a fillip to quality health facilities.
He said, earlier due to the non-availability of the CT scan facility, the poor patients had to go outside for such expensive tests.
He said that this CT scan would benefit the patients more as the initial cost of Scan Test (Brain) has been fixed at mere Rs 485 which is 70 percent less than the rates of private diagnostic centers in the market. He said, generally the CT scan from a private center costs four times more to the patient. This will help the needy patients to easily get the required test facility in their own city at District Hospital. This machine will prove to be a boon to needy patients, he added.
Dr. Devinder Dhanda said that in the direction of providing all the health facilities to the people under one roof in government health institutions, the introduction of the CT scan machine is a big step. He said that as many as 17 tests of the body can be done through the CT scan machine at a nominal cost, with which serious diseases of the head, chest and stomach can be detected in time.
The Civil Surgeon also appealed to the people of the district to make maximum use of the cheap and quality health facilities provided by the Punjab Government at the local Civil Hospital. Among the district health officials present on the occasion included Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Jasdev Singh, Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Harpreet Singh, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Mandeep Kamal, Psychiatrist Dr. Rajan Shastri, District Program Manager Ram Singh.
