IPS officer Smiti Chaudhary passes away

Ambala (Haryana), June 27, 2025: In a tragic development, a senior IPS officer of the 2012 Haryana cadre, Smiti Chaudhary, passed away early Friday morning in Nashik, Maharashtra. She was 48 and had been undergoing treatment for an illness. She breathed her last at 6 a.m. today.
At the time of her passing, Smiti Chaudhary was serving as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Ambala. Her untimely demise has sent shock waves through the police force and the wider administrative community in Haryana and beyond.
Belonging to a family of distinguished civil servants, Smiti Chaudhary was the daughter of senior Haryana cadre IAS officer Jayawanti Sheokand, and sister of IAS officer Yashendra. She was married to Rajesh Kumar, a senior IPS officer currently serving as Director at the Maharashtra Police Academy (MPA), Nashik.
Hailing from Garhi village in Kaithal district, Smiti and Rajesh Kumar both held key positions in public service and were respected for their dedication to duty.
Colleagues and senior officers remembered Smiti Chaudhary as a hardworking, sincere, and empathetic officer, whose contributions left a lasting impact. Tributes poured in on social media from police and administrative officials, expressing grief and admiration for her service.
