Sessions Judge launches ‘Skill Development’ courses at Ferozepur Central Jail
Ferozepur, December 13, 2024: During his visit to the Central Jail, Virinder Aggarwal, District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ferozepur, launched ‘Skill Developoment’ courses. He was accompanied by Anuradha,Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary of DLSA, Satnam Singh, Jail Superintendent, Additional Superintendent Arpanjot Singh; and other jail staff.
During the visit, the judge interacted with inmates, addressing their grievances and inspecting jail facilities, including the kitchen and the quality of meals served. He also engaged with female inmates in the women’s ward, listening to their concerns.
A key highlight of the visit was the inauguration of skill development courses for inmates, aimed at rehabilitating them and equipping them with vocational skills for a better future. Sessions Judge emphasized the importance of personal transformation, urging inmates to leave the jail as responsible citizens committed to leading law-abiding lives.
The event also included an introduction to the "Samvad" scheme, which facilitates video conferencing for legal consultations. He also personally reviewed the Video Conferencing (VC) Room setup and briefed the inmates about the benefits of the initiative.
In his concluding address, the judge encouraged the inmates to pledge against wrongdoing and contribute positively to society upon their release. He expressed hope that no individual would have to return to jail and wished them a prosperous future.
The jail authorities expressed their gratitude for the visit, concluding the day with a vote of thanks to the Sessions Judge.
