Mining department cracks down at illegal mining
2 poclain, 6 tippers indulged in illegal mining seized
Record increase in revenue witnessed from Raw material entering from other states.

The Mining Department has cracked down
on illegal mining mafia and seized 2 poclain and 6 tippers at Sawan River near Bhalan village in district Rupnagar last midnight. Executive Engineer,mining division Sri Anandpur sahib, Rupinder Singh Pabla ,while divulging details said that as per the directions of mining and water resource minister Harjot Singh Bains and Secretary Krishan kumar, to maintain zero tolerance against illegal mining ,Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Preeti Yadav has regularly been monitoring mining sites to thwart illegal mining.
Under it, the officials of the mining department conducted a raid at Bhalan site last midnight and recovered 2 poclain and 6 tippers with sand and gravel.
Manisha Rana SDM was regularly monitoring and in touch with the proceedings of raid. FIR no. 0170 dated 28 December 2022 lodged against accused in Nangal police station, informed Pabla.
The Executive Engineer also revealed that due to the tightening of noose by the Department, the revenue from the incoming raw material from different states has increased.
He said that record Rs.16 lakh revenue was collected from Sri Anandpur sahib division on 27th December which is one day’s collection and more than 20 lakh was collected in district Rupnagar on the same day,which is multiple times more than the past days.
The department would continue to keep an eagle' s eye on the mining activities and continue to take prompt strict action against illegal mining activities, he added.
