Govt's apathy forces Vets to hit roads

Mohali, August 30, 2024: The Joint Action Committee of Vets for pay parity is all set to stage State level protest dharna at Mohali on September 1, to express resentment on nonchalant attitude of the Punjab government towards restoring the pay parity of Vets with their counterparts in health department.
It may be informed that Vets of the state under aegis of Joint Action Committee (JAC) for pay parity have been on strike, since June 24 and as mark of protest have boycotted Artificial Insemination in livestock, extension camps and many other central government schemes.
The government has not restored the scale of veterinary officers despite assurances time and again by the Animal Husbandry Minister.
This aberration reducing the entry pay scale of Vets from Rs 56,100/- to Rs 47,600/- had been effected by the then Finance Minister Manpreet Badal during previous Congress regime when it was on the way out.
Dr Gurinder Singh Walia and Dr Parshotam Singh, Media charge, JAC lamented that repeated meetings of state executives on this important issue with the Animal Husbandry Ministers have resulted in assurances only and no concrete step has been taken to take this to a logical end.
It is pitiable to see educated professionals being forced to come to the roads due to the apathy of the government.
They called upon the CM Punjab Mr Bhagwant Singh Mann to intervene so that the matter could be resolved in the public interest and justice prevails.
