Vigilance Bureau arrests Patwari taking Rs 10,000 bribe for mutation of land

Chandigarh August 30, 2024 -The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state has apprehended a revenue Sohan Gir, Patwari, revenue halka Amam Nagar, village Karhali in Patiala district red-handed while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said this above-mentioned revenue official has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by Gurdev Singh, a resident of Amam Nagar, village Karhali in Patiala district.
He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged the said Patwari has been demanding illegal gratification of Rs 10,000 for the mutation of land belonging to his grandfather in his name.
The spokesperson added that after preliminary verification of allegations leveled in the complaint, a VB team has laid a trap in which the said Patwari was arrested red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He further informed that in this regard a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the said Patwari at VB police station Patiala range.He would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation into this case was under progress.
