Ferozepur rail division earns Rs. 2 Cr revenue from 2,242 ticketless passengers in August
Ferozepur, September 2024: The ticket-checking teams of the Ferozepur Division conducted intensive ticket inspections across trains to curb ticketless and irregular travel, ensuring a comfortable journey and better services for genuine rail users. During August 2024, a total of 22,242 passengers were found travelling without tickets or with irregular tickets, resulting in the collection of nearly Rs. 2 crores in fines. This contributed to the increased revenue of the Ferozepur Division, highlighting the commendable efforts of the ticket-checking staff.
Railway authorities also conducted surprise ticket-checking drives to prevent unauthorized entry of passengers on trains, advising travellers to purchase proper tickets before boarding.
In addition to ticket checking, regular inspections were conducted at the main stations of the division to maintain cleanliness and prevent littering by the public. As a result, in August, 476 passengers were fined over Rs. 79,000 under the Anti-Littering Act for littering on station premises. Cleanliness drives were also organized periodically to raise awareness among passengers about maintaining hygiene.
Divisional Railway Manager Sanjay Sahu stated that the ticket-checking drives will continue in Ferozepur Division, with the primary goal of improving ticket sales and achieving zero ticketless travel in the division.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Parmdeep Singh Saini acknowledged that the ticket-checking staff not only contribute to increasing rail revenue but also fulfil their social duty by assisting passengers. To boost their morale, dedicated ticket-checking staff are periodically honoured with appreciation certificates for their exemplary service.
