Ferozepur, September 9, 2024: Welcoming the Punjab-Haryana High Court orders for the use of the mAadhaar App for surety verification, Rajesh Gupta, President of Samaj Sudhar Sabha, Abohar – a leading NGO said, it is a crucial step towards transparency.
Gupta urged the Chief Secretary and Chief Minister of Punjab to enforce this directive swiftly, highlighting that it will help eliminate the rampant corruption in tehsil offices during the registration of Power of Attorney, Sale Deeds, and other documents.
He said the High Court criticized the fees charged by numberdars, councillors, punches, sarpanches, and others for verifying authenticity, deeming them illegal and unethical. The court emphasized that the mAadhaar app is a foolproof method for identity verification, which will reduce fraud cases during land registration.
In a recent bail petition in an NDPS case, the High Court overturned the trial court's conditions related to surety verification, highlighting the illegal and unethical practices prevalent in the current system. The court noted that verifying guarantors' identities through the Aadhaar app is highly reliable and removes the need for traditional verification methods involving local officials.
By implementing this order, the High Court aims to reduce fraudulent activities and promote a more efficient and corruption-free process for document registration in the region.
