Jalandhar DC reviews performance of ULBs under key Government schemes
Directs officials to complete projects on time, submit utilization certificates

Jalandhar, September 10, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal on Tuesday reviewed the performance of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) including Jalandhar Municipal Corporation and Municipal Councils under various government-sponsored schemes such as the 15th Finance Commission, AMRUT Yojna, Swachh Bharat Mission, National Urban Livelihood Mission, Prime Minister Awas Yojna, and Municipal Development Funds.
Accompanied by Commissioner Jalandhar Municipal Corporation Gautam Jain and Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, Dr. Aggarwal emphasized that these schemes aim to bolster the district's ongoing development initiatives.
He directed officials to complete all ongoing projects within the stipulated timeframe, stressing that delays would be unacceptable.
He stressed on timely execution of all the projects initiated under these schemes and fixed the deadline for each ULB.
The Deputy Commissioner also instructed ULBs to submit utilization certificates (UCs) upon completing current projects, which would unlock the release of funds for the next installments.
Dr. Aggarwal underscored that senior officials must personally monitor the quality of work being executed under these schemes.
He also reviewed the progress of property tax collection, urging the Municipal Corporations and Councils to enhance tax collection to meet the requirements of the 15th Finance Commission.
The DC further emphasized maintaining a single account for each scheme to avoid complications at the execution level.
